He was later referred to Irrua Specialist hospital in Edo State where he was confirmed of having Lassa fever. He died before the result of the test came out.
The second person from Idah Local Government in Kogi State is said to be receiving treatment at the same hospital.
In reacting to this issue, Dr. Austin Ojotule, the Chairman Nigerian Medical Association Kogi Chapter said in bid to stop the outbreak of Lassa fever, the Association had embarked on sensitization programme at the rural areas.
Dr. Austin advised people to stop exposing their food to rats in order to prevent the further spread of the disease.
Mr. Bello Henry, the Acting Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Health said the government had also embarked on sensitization programme and had provided personal protective equipment for the health providers.
