The significant of raw onions to human body

  Onion is a vegetable which has strong smell as well as flavour. This type of vegetable comprises of several layers which are surrounding one another tightly.

The consumption of raw onion is very vital in the sense that it contains sulphur compound and essential vitamins which are more important to human body when consumed raw. This is because when onion is cooked, the essential nutrients and vitamins are destroyed in the process. Therefore, for you to get the real benefits in onion, it is better eaten raw. That is when raw onion is sliced into pieces like the one above, you could eat the raw onion one or two pieces from it. When you are to consume more of this pieces of onion, it is better to put the pieces of onion in a sieve. The sieve should be placed on top of a bucket. Then, boil water. The boiled water should be poured into the sieve. The boiled water should be enough to touch all the pieces of the onion. The boiled water should be allowed to pass through the tiny spaces in the sieve and should not be allowed to have contact with the pieces of  the onion for the second time.The reason for this is to reduce the effect sulphur and sulphide which are in excess in more than two pieces of onion.This could lead to headache when the sulphur and sulphide are in excess.To reduce the effect, the above procedure should be followed. In this case, the pieces of the onion is ready to be consumed.

1. It cures constipation: The fibres in raw onion are essential in flushing out toxin and hard food particles that get stuck in human intestines.

2. Onion is an ayurvedic medicine for sore throat: Fresh onion and jaggery or honey are important in combating cold, cough, and a sore throat.

3. Raw onion is good in stopping bleeding: If you have a bleeding nose, cut raw onion and smell it. The bleeding will automatically stop.

4It controls diabetes: The consumption of raw onion increases the production of insulin which is an hormone secreted by the isles of Langerhans in the pancreas.This hormone called insulin regulates the storage of glycogen in the liver and accelerates oxidation of sugar in cells.

5. Raw onion protects the heart: It pevents High Blood Pressure (PB).It also help to protect the heart from coronary diseases as well as open blocked arteries.

6. It controls cholesterol levels: The methylallyl sulphide and sulphur - containing amino - acids in raw onion help in reducing bad cholesterol levels and increases good cholesterol level.

7. Raw onion prevents the growth of cancer cells: The sulphur compound which is richly contained in raw onion protects the body from stomach, colon, breast, lung, and prostate cancer.

8. Raw onion is essential in the treatment of anaemia: The sulphur - containing oil and sulphide compound in raw onion are what causes tears in our eyes when they enter our nostrils at the time we are slicing raw onion. The oil help in the treatment of anaemia.
